Hello Friends and Welcome Back!

As the Summer days continue, I've been enjoying the warm weather, time with family, and moments spent working on my stitching projects!

This past weekend, we invited my Mom's family to see the house! Most of them live a few hours to the Southwest, so this was the first time they'd been able to see the property in person!

It was really exciting to be able to show off our progress with the renovations and share our plans for the next few steps! And with everyone together, we also celebrated all of the Summer birthdays!

But that wasn't the end of the excitement!

Yesterday was our scheduled panel replacement! My Dad and Husband spent the day removing the old fuse panel and replacing it with an updated breaker panel, and though I wasn't expecting to help, I was able to contribute by running to the hardware store for them!

With so much busyness over the last few days, I'm looking forward to taking some time to relax today with a project update!

Crochet Afghan

When I shared my last update, I had just finished my second Sol square, leaving me between patterns. Since then, I've been busy crocheting and have made progress on quite a few new squares!

In the top row are Traverse and Banda; Cogs, Bobbled, and Sibuyan are shown in the middle row; and the bottom row has Amaryllis and Vanes!

I think I remade all of these blocks because my duplicates all turned out quite a bit smaller than the originals, and in doing so, changed the colour placement a bit.

Another change I made was to replace any popcorn or puff stitches with smaller stitch clusters so they're less chunky. I'm expecting to use this afghan on my couch when it's finished, and I feel like the big stitch clusters will be uncomfortable to sit on.

Here's an example showing the original versions of Bobbled, Sibuyan, and Amaryllis alongside the altered design that I'll use in my afghan!

With all those squares finished, I've started working on the next pattern; Chicane!

I was trying to use up some of my shorter lengths of coral yarn, and unfortunately, the length I chose wasn't quite long enough for this round, so I think I'll have to frog it and try again with a different length.

I have a lot of different leftovers taken from the particularly chunky squares that I decided not to use, so there's lots to choose from!

My squares are based on a variety of patterns from Granny Square Flair by Shelley Husband.

Outreach Blocks

Moving along to a quilting project, I've finally finished my Water Lilies by the Lake row!

Last time, I left off with about half of the applique finished, and over the last few weeks, I've continued slowly adding flowers and lily pads to the row, placing each by feeling!

The pattern was pretty vague about where to place the applique. It pretty much said to spread the large flowers evenly across the background, and to add smaller flowers to the spaces between as desired, so I had a lot of creative freedom!

And after putting my crochet aside for a few days, I'm really pleased with how the row turned out!

With the piecing finished, I'm excited to bring this back to the quilt guild in September, and to see what the outreach committee will decide to add to it to make the quilt top!

This design is based on the Water Lilies by the Lake pattern distributed by the Wee Folks Sewing and Quilt Shoppe.

Now that the first outreach row is finished, I'm looking forward to working on the other kit I picked up; the wave row from Fun with Stitches' 2015 row by row pattern!

I can't wait to get started!

Stitches in Stone Quilt Along Pattern

After doing a bit of math, I've worked my way through figuring out the fabric requirements for my next quilt along project and have started drafting pattern instructions!

I definitely won't have a sample quilt ready for next week, but I'm optimistic I'll still be able to start off the quilt along with a pattern reveal and fabric requirements! I hope you're looking forward to it as much as I am!

Friends, it has been so exciting to see all the progress I've been making on my current projects even amongst renovations and family visits!

And I hope all of you have had just as many fun family moments and productive projects of your own! Please let me know what you've been working on in the comments below, by sending me an email, or by reaching out to me on Instagram!

I can't wait to see what the rest of the Summer will bring!

Until Next Time Friends, Keep Creating!
