Hello Friends and Welcome Back!

With the Summer season well underway, I've been enjoying the warm weather outside when it's not positively sweltering, and the air conditioning inside when it is!

I haven't done much outside stitching yet this year and, looking forward to a very rainy next few days, can't see it happening in the immediate future. But perhaps when the clouds clear, I'll have a chance to take some handwork out to enjoy the weather soon!

In the meantime, I've been working on some machine quilting, some pattern design, and a little indoor hand sewing! I can't wait to share my progress!

The Generations Quilt Project

For the Generations Quilt, I've been working both on my own blocks, and on some in my Grandma's style.

I haven't completely finished any of my own blocks, but have pieced together ten new Six Pointed Star appliques in various white and off white prints!

The next step for these will be to cut background squares from the colourful solids I bought last month. I'm excited to see how they turn out!

Though my own blocks are not entirely finished, I have made good progress on another set of blocks in my Grandma's style!

I've finished assembling the ten Dresden Plate appliques that I previously cut, and stitched nine of those onto backgrounds. These new blocks bring me to a total of 30 completed Dresden Plates in Grandma's style!

After making those, I'm once again out of background fabric, but I think 30 blocks is plenty! I will keep the last applique with the finished blocks in case we happen to need it later, but for now, I will shift my focus back to finishing my own blocks!

My Generations Quilt is based on the traditional Dresden Plate and Six Pointed Star blocks, using templates drafted by Valerie Anne.

Meadow Mystery Quilt

I set aside working on Meadow Mystery over a year and a half ago, in November 2023. I picked it up again last month as part of a goal of finishing the quilting on one of my unfinished projects and am excited to see it progressing!

I've finished quilting the last of the full sized blocks, but haven't yet sewn it to the rest of the row it belongs in. But once I have, I can stitch that row to the quilt centre and move on to quilting the partial border blocks!

I'm still enjoying the process of quilting this quilt, block by block, but the process of assembling the quilted blocks by hand is going rather slowly. I'm looking forward to trying a few other quilt as you go assembly methods with future quilts, and to seeing this one reach completion!

My Meadow Mystery quilt is based on a design by Cheryl Brickley of Meadow Mist Designs.

Quilt Along Pattern

Along with my stitching progress, I've been working on one of my other Summer projects; my next quilt along pattern!

So far, I've drafted instructions for each of the different units used in the design, and am working on instructions for final assembly!

Once I've finished drafting the instructions, the next step will be to test it!

ree

I've gathered a selection of prints from my stash and am looking forward to seeing the design come to life!

Looking back at the last few weeks, I've spent less time stitching and more time drafting patterns than usual. Though it feels like I have less to share than I normally would, I know I've done a lot of work and am proud of the progress I've made!

Though I'm not ready to share the pattern I've been working on just yet, I'm confident you'll all love it when it is finally revealed in September!

Friends, after sharing my recent progress, I'm more excited than ever to continue working on each of these ongoing quilt projects! It's tough deciding which of them I want to pick up each day, but little by little, they're all coming together into unique and beautiful quilts!

And I hope you'll share a little update on your own projects too! I'd love to see pictures and stories in the comments below, receive emails, or be tagged on Instagram!

I can't wait to see what we continue to create together!

Until Next Time Friends, Happy Stitching!
