Hello Friends and Welcome Back!
Last week, I was feeling a little under the weather, and though I was still stitching, I wasn't feeling up to sharing updates on my socials.
We started house tours, so I'm not sure if I was reacting to the air in an unfamiliar environment, or it could have been the changes in air pressure as the warm weather rolled in. Of course, there's always the possibility that I caught a little head cold.
But I'm feeling better now and wanted to get you all caught up on what I've been working on! Let's take a look!
Midnight Circus Sample Quilt
We are now passed the halfway mark of the Midnight Circus quilt along, and I'm more excited than ever to do some more quilting on my sample quilt!

I've made a lot of progress since my last update! The biggest changes are the new sashing strip I pieced onto the outer corner (the bottom in the picture) and quilting the corner Star block!
I've also continued to work on the sashing and background quilting!

The uneven matchstick quilting in the background areas is pretty dense, so it works up much slower than the lotus petal design used in other areas of the quilt, but it's probably my favourite to work on!
And since it can be a little difficult to see the quilting from a distance, I thought a diagram might help to make my progress a little clearer!

The picture only shows the sections of the quilt that have been joined together so far, with the quilted areas in bright colour and the unquilted areas covered with a transparent mask.
For the particular method I'm using to quilt and assemble Midnight Circus, I need to leave the edges free of quilting to make joining the next row of blocks easier, so that's why all the quilting is concentrated in the middle.

Of course, this lets me piece some fun patchwork designs onto the back of the quilt too! It's been almost as fun watching the scrappy backing come together as seeing the quilt top!
Midnight Circus is my own original design, by Valerie Anne of the Fibre Arts blog, and is currently running as a free quilt along.
Old Town Quilt
After my last update, I was really excited about the progress I'd been making on Old Town!

I spent a lot of that week working on assembling the rows of my quilt, then piecing those rows into a quilt top. Between my enthusiasm and a good audio book, the quilt top came together really quickly!
Once all my rows were joined, I wanted to get a picture of my progress so I could get some feedback on my idea for a border, but Meara had other ideas.
As soon as the quilt hit the floor, she wanted to do a snuggle test!
Even with Meara in the middle of the quilt, I was still able to get some good feedback from those of you who follow along with my social media posts, and a lot of you really liked my idea of adding a narrow dark border!
With that confidence boost, I cut several strips of navy and stitched them around the edges, finishing my quilt top!

I really love how the dark boarder accents the coloured blocks! This will be such a fun project to quilt when the time finally comes! For now though, I'll be packing Old Town away in preparation for moving soon!
My Old Town quilt is based on a design by Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville.
Friends, thank you all for joining me this week for another project update! I'm always so surprised by the amount of progress I make from one week or month to the next, so it's nice to check in and remind myself that my projects are coming together!
And I would love to hear how all of your projects are coming along too! Please share updates with me in the comments below, by sending an email, or by reaching out on Instagram!
I always love seeing the work of other creators and finding new sources of inspiration!
