Hello Friends and Welcome Back!
After a few unexpected breaks, I'm hoping to get back into my usual posting schedule this week with a Project Update!
Of course, with my many visits with my parents and their new puppies have left me with relatively little time to actually work on my sewing projects, so this update is a little shorter than usual, but I still find it very valuable to look back at my progress and I really enjoy sharing what I'm working on with all of you!
Let's take a look!
Hexie Harvest BoM
Since this is a hand piecing project, Hexie Harvest is the one I've made the most progress on!
The small block size means that Hexie Harvest is easy to take along with me when visiting my parents, although I do have to be careful not to lose any of the little pieces. And because it's hand work, I don't have to bring along my sewing machine and I can easily pick it up and put it down when the puppies need a little attention. It's been a very convenient Summer project!
For the month of July, I've been working on two sets of blocks; Juniper and Winter Jasmine.

Winter Jasmine features another variation on the six pointed star, this time using a set of twelve diamond shapes. I've finished piecing all seven of these blocks, all of which I made in rainbow colours! This block was super fast and easy, and I had a lot of fun working with the colourful fabrics!
I've also gotten started on my Juniper blocks!

So far, I've cut all my pieces, also with rainbow colours featured in each of the seven blocks, and have nearly finished piecing the first block! Juniper uses the same set of twelve diamond shapes that was used in Winter Jasmine, but arranges them in a different pattern to create a totally unique effect!
I can't wait to see how the rest of these blocks turn out!
Hexie Harvest was designed by Jodi Godfrey of Tales of Cloth. The quilt along will run for the remainder of the Summer and is scheduled to end in October 2023.
BoM Sample Quilt
The other project I've been working on is the sample for next year's BoM!
I'm now more than half way through the piecing, but as I'm doing it by machine, have slowed down over the last few weeks while visiting with puppies. Hopefully I'll have enough time this week to finish it before heading back to my parents' house again!

And though I'm not quite ready for quilting just yet, I did pick up some thread from a local quilt shop. I'm hoping to hand quilt this project, so I got a few appropriate colours of Valdani perle cotton thread, which I've loved working with in the past and am excited to use again!
This pattern is my own original design and will be released here on the blog in September 2023.
Friends, that is all my progress for this month so far. Not as much as I may have hoped, but quite a bit of progress nonetheless!
I didn't do any additional quilting on Meadow Mystery nor any piecing on my Generations blocks, but I know I'll get back to both of those before the Summer ends!
In the meantime, I would love to hear more about the projects all of you are working on! Please leave stories in the comments below, share photos with me on Instagram, or reach out in an email! Seeing the work of other sewists, fibre artists, and creators of other kinds is so inspirational!
I'm excited to get back to sewing now and hope to have some new and exciting progress to share with you soon!
