Hello Friends and Welcome Back!
The warm Spring weather has finally arrived, allowing the world to bloom again!
I've been enjoying all the new flowers, the return of the birds, and the warmth of the sun! And with this change, maybe soon I'll be able to do a little outdoor stitching?
But since that time hasn't quite arrived yet, I've carried on piecing my projects in my sewing room. Let's take a look at the progress I've made!
Ice Cream Soda
With most of my Ice Cream Soda blocks pieced, I was excited to lay them out all together and see how they look!

With the variety of blocks I made, the gradient worked out really well! The white, black, and gold areas are distinct, but there are enough transitional blocks that the change from one colour to the next doesn't feel harsh. I love it!
Once my full sized blocks were laid out, I could tell what colours I would need to make my partial blocks so they would fit nicely into that gradient.

I went through the remains of my original Queen Bee fabric bundle, prioritizing using that whenever I found big enough pieces. From there, I used other bee themed prints, then looked through my remaining prints to finish the blocks.
After finishing those, I laid out all my blocks again to be sure the new partial blocks would fit into the gradient. I fiddled around with block placement until I was happy then was excited to start assembling the quilt top!

For my joining pieces, I set aside an amber solid that was already in my stash. It was actually two pieces, and if you look closely, they're not quite the same colour. I think they're the same solid, but the colour difference means they were from different dye lots.
This doesn't bother me since they will rarely touch closely enough to tell the difference, however, now that I've started putting the quilt top together and cutting pieces from those solids, I'm beginning to wonder whether I won't need more joining fabric, which would introduce a third dye lot to the quilt.
I'm not totally sure about that just yet, so I'll keep an eye on the amount of fabric as I progress through the quilt top.

The Generations Quilt Project
Between Ice Cream Soda blocks, I've also continued working on my Generations Quilt blocks!
I've pieced a few more of each applique shape, bringing me to a total of 12 Dresden Plate and 15 Six Pointed Star appliques. With so many of them pieced, it feels like a good time to cut some more backgrounds and finish a few more blocks!

So far, I've cut six background squares each from two coloured solids; lime and blue. After cutting, I press an X into the centre of the square to help align the applique shape in the block centre.
I'm hoping to baste the appliques later this week and start sewing them on soon!

Old Town Mystery Quilt
The final project I've been working on in the last few weeks is my Old Town mystery quilt!
I haven't made a lot of progress, just one new block, but I'm proud of it nonetheless!

This block uses a pale orange background, which contrasts really well against the blue and grey solids. I think it turned out really well!
This block brings me to a total eight Old Town blocks!

After several more weeks of progress, I'm so happy with what I've accomplished! It's so exciting to see each of my projects progressing towards their final forms!

I've got lots of continued stitching to look forward to and can't wait to see the path each project will take!
