Hello Friends and Welcome!
Last week, I took a planned break that I later realized I forgot to mention here on the blog. Sorry for the unexplained disappearance and thanks for bearing with me!
But now that I'm back, I think it's about time for another project update! My last general update was posted last year in early December, so it seems about time to get caught up on everything!
Let's take a look!
Hexie Harvest
As this quilt approaches one full year in the making, I'm excited to nearly have the top in one piece!
I'm currently about half way across my second from last seam as I stitch the rows of hexie blocks together. Once this seam is finished, I'll have just one row left to stitch on before the quilt top is together!

Looking at the nearly finished quilt top, I can definitely see a few things I would change, but I can also see all the new experiences and lessons learned along the way! I'm so glad I embraced this challenge and tried something new!
Hexie Harvest was designed by Jodi Godfrey of Tales of Cloth.
The pattern ran as a quilt along through most of 2023.
Indigo Way
Moving on to a much more recently started quilt along project, we have Ingido Way!
It's been quite a few weeks since I actually worked on this quilt, so it seems a little strange to me that it needs an update. But the week four clue did come out following my last project update and I remember having a lot of fun putting my three quarter square triangle units together!

I got sick following the completion of these units, which was when I fell behind in my piecing. And though I haven't caught up on any further clues, I did continue to collect the project instructions as they were released!
Now, with full knowledge of how the finished quilt was meant to look, I was excited to make a few of my own changes to the pattern to make it work best with my chosen colour scheme!
These changes would be made with only one rule; I didn't want to remake any of the four sets of units that I had already pieced. That left me with three sets of units I could alter!

After playing around with the colours, I decided I liked this look the best! I changed the square in a square units from a teal square on blue to a pink square on blue, which has a lot more contrast, and added a lot of colour to the triangle in a square border units! I also plan to incorporate some extra pink square in a square units into the border to break up the repetition of the triangle motif!
After drawing up this plan, I am so excited to get back to working on Indigo Way! I hope to have some more units made soon!
Indigo Way was designed by Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville.
The pattern ran as a mystery quilt along through December 2023 into January 2024.
Pajamas
Those two projects are all the quilt making I've been up to, however I do have a few garment projects that have recently been in the works!
The older of these are the pajama pants I was working on last Autumn!

Technically, these should have been in my year in review post, but I forgot to include them. Regardless, I can happily say that they have arrived with their intended recipient and I'm excited to be able to share them!
My pattern was drafted from an older pair of pajama pants that I also made, and that pair was cut freehand by my sewing instructor back when I was in high school, so I don't have any particular pattern recommendations. However, there are lots of free pajama patterns that can easily be found online and adjusted to your preferred fit if you'd like to give a project like this a try!
Wedding Waistcoats
The final project I've been working on, and the one that took up most of my time in January, was a pair of formal waistcoats for myself and my husband to wear to a wedding that took place late last week.

I'm not totally satisfied with how they turned out. They were a little rushed, so the fit isn't quite perfect and there are a lot of little details I was hoping to add that I didn't have time for, but we don't have another event to attend anytime in the near future, so I'm hoping to make those changes slowly over the coming months!
And, with the creation of these waistcoats being so rushed, I wasn't able to take the time to document the process. But I'm excited to have the change to do that while working on them the second time around!
Friends, as usual, I have thoroughly enjoyed reviewing my recent progress with all of you! I find that looking back at my ongoing projects helps to keep me motivated and inspired, and to manage my expectations of myself!
Speaking of expectations, looking at these projects had reminded me of how well I've been doing at maintaining my seasonal goals for this Winter! I have a lot of different quilts and garments in the works right now, and several that I'm looking forward to starting soon, but I'm doing my best to finish some of the ongoing projects before hopping into too many new ones!
If you'd like to keep up with the progress of any of these projects between updates, I do my best to share photos throughout the week over on Instagram. And I'd love if you shared what you're working on too! You can tag me there, comment below this post, or reach out to me via email, I'm always happy to hear from other enthusiastic makers!
