Hello Friends and Welcome Back!

As Winter passes by, cold days come and go and snow piles up outside. And as it does, I've continued working on a variety of quilting projects!

In my last update, I shared how close I was to completing the piecing stage of several of my ongoing projects! Some of those have now reached that point, while others are still in progress, but every stitching brings them that much closer!

Ice Cream Soda

I'm really happy with the progress I've been making on Ice Cream Soda, though it is the project that's furthest from completion. Of course, that just means I have more fun ahead of me!

I've finished another six blocks since the last update, each of which is interesting and beautiful in its own way!

With these blocks finished, I only need to make two more full blocks!

However, as I've worked through all my Ice Cream Soda blocks, I feel I've developed a better sense for which fabric combinations I'll like best. As such, I think I'll make a few extra blocks so any my least favourite ones won't need to be used in the finished quilt!

And once I've made my way through those, I have my half blocks to look forward to!

Blackwork Roads

While Ice Cream Soda is the farthest project from completion, Blackwork Roads is actually there!

The last update saw this project all on one piece, but when I took it out into the sunlight to take photos, I realized I'd made an error in my piecing.

One of the points of the central white star used a cooler white than the rest of the background fabric, which I hadn't been able to tell in the indoor lighting. And though I remembered cutting a square for the bottom corner, when it came time to add it to the quilt, I couldn't find it and needed to piece one together from smaller remnants.

You can see both these errors indicated by red arrows in the photo above!

After taking these photos, I found the misplaced triangle and square pieces and was able to replace them in the finished quilt top!

The photos I took after those changes didn't turn out the best, so I'll have to try again another day, but the quilt top is officially finished now!

Indigo Way Mystery Quilt

Moving back to another project in progress, I'm really happy with how Indigo Way has been coming together!

I've now finished the four partial blocks that make up the outermost corners of the quilt!

These look a little strange on their own, so I was interested to see how they would look laid out in their proper orientation as corner units!

And I'm really happy with how they came together! Of course, there will be more than just one block making up the quilt centre when it's finished, but I've enjoyed seeing this little sneak peak for now!

With this much finished so far, I only have my border units left to piece!

In the original pattern, the border was pieced in two colours. With the colour scheme I used, it would have been a combination of off white and salmon, but I feel like that contrasts a lot with all of the blue tones in the quilt centre.

I decided to switch around the colours so all four are used in the border instead!

In addition to using more colours, I wanted to bring the square in a square motif into the border as well, giving it a little more visual interest!

All together, I'm going to need 100 triangle in a square units, and 12 square in a square units to complete my border! I'd better get to work!

Custom Font Stencils

With so many quilts drawing close to completion, I'm reminded again of my need to make quilt labels!

Unfortunately, the person I initially contacted never got back to me, but I kept searching and eventually found a nearby studio that produces stencils! The studio is called Muddaritaville; they have a variety of premade stencil designs for purchase in addition to cutting custom designs!

So far, they've cut a test sample for me containing some individual numbers, as well as a custom phrase, and based on the photo, it looks amazing! I'll be headed to the studio to pick it up later in the week so I can see how the stencil works with my printing method, and once I'm sure, I can have the full set cut!

I can't be sure until I've tested it, but I suspect this stencil will be exactly what I've been looking for!

I'm absolutely thrilled with the progress I've made on all of these projects and can't wait to see them reach completion! I'm especially happy about the progress on my stencil and can't wait to see how it will print!

I hope to share an update on that very soon, so be sure to visit me on Instagram if you'd like to keep up to date! And I'd love to hear how your projects are coming along as well! Please share stories and photos with me in the comments below, by email, or by tagging me on Instagram!

I can't wait to see what we'll create together next!
