Hello Friends and Happy Spring!
Last week, I had to take a little break from the Fibre Arts blog because I had a really nasty cold. It feels like I've been sick on and off all Winter, so I hope the warmer weather of Springtime will put a stop to that!
Of course, there's signs everywhere that the warmer weather is on its way! The Winter snows have melted, the robins are returning, and tiny buds are pushing their way out of the earth! Though I haven't fully recovered from last week's cold, I'm feeling much better and am excited to embrace the new season!
And, as usual, the arrival of a new season means it's time for me to take a look at my ongoing projects and goals, see where I've succeeded and where I need to work a little harder, and set new goals for the months to come!
I can't wait to see the progress we've made together!
Winter Goals
Last season, I set goals for eight different projects, spanning the digital realm, piecing projects, and garment drafting. It sounds like a lot to work on all at once, but back in December, I was optimistic I could handle them all. Let's see how I did!
The first of my digital goals was to continue my weekly blog posting, announcing any planned breaks ahead of time. And though I took two unplanned breaks due to sickness, I was otherwise successful in this!

Progress on my custom font was another of my digital goals. I had hoped to draft at least one letter a week throughout the Winter season, but went well beyond that by finishing a full set of text and numbers, with some duplicate characters, and getting a test stencil cut!
My final digital project goal was just as successful as the previous ones; to finish typing the Blackwork Roads pattern instructions! And a friend of mine has pieced through to the end of the pattern, pointing out a few errors that I fixed along the way. Thanks Marie!
And speaking of Blackwork Roads, my first piecing goal was to finish my sample quilt top!

If you've been following along with the quilt along, you'll know that I finished the quilt top back in December, but had mixed up some of the background fabric and pieced in a white that didn't match the rest of the quilt. That has since been replaced and the quilt top is properly complete! Another success!
The Blackwork Roads quilt is an original design by Valerie Anne, and is currently running as a free quilt along.
The next piecing goal was to finish the borders for my Indigo Way quilt from 2023.

This quilt has been in progress for quite some time, so I'm happy to say I've finally finished piecing it! Well, sort of; I've left the blocks and borders separate for now since I'm hoping to finish this project using quilt as you go, so we'll have to wait to see the quilt all in one piece!
The Indigo Way quilt is based on a design by Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville.
With Indigo Way finished, I was also able to get started on my newest piecing project, Old Town!

So far, I've just pieced one block, but I had a lot of fun with it! The background fabric for this block was very busy, but also directional, so I took some extra time to get each piece of printed fabric facing the same way!
With this block complete, I've succeeded in another of my goals!

The final piecing project I had planned to work on last Winter is my bee themed Ice Cream Soda quilt!
For this project, I hoped to simply keep piecing, making any amount of progress. And with my work over the Winter months, I succeeded in completing the last of my full sized blocks and started assembling some partial blocks for the outer edges of the quilt!

Moving away from quilt making, my final project goal for the Winter was to complete a custom everyday pants pattern for myself!
Unfortunately, since I spent so much of the Winter being sick, I've been sitting around in my pajamas and not thinking much about real pants. But I can always get back to this project in the future!
With all of that said, I successfully completed seven goals over the Winter months, leaving only one incomplete! I'm absolutely thrilled with this outcome! Looking back, all I really remember is being sick, so seeing this much success has been a happy surprise and I can't wait to keep stitching into the new season!
Spring 2025
On that positive note, I'm now really looking forward to the Spring season!
In the coming months, there's several projects I'm excited to work on! Most of these are ongoing, but there will be something new to look forward to too!
First up are my digital goals. I have two continuing from last season, as well as two new ones for the Springtime!
I hope to continue posting each week on the Fibre Arts blog, giving notice of absences whenever possible
I plan to finish my custom font and have stencils cut so I can start making labels

I would like to post to social media more consistently, posting at least twice outside of regular post announcements
I hope to get started on the design and pattern for next year's quilt along
Moving along from those are a few piecing projects. There are three quilts I have in mind to work on this Spring!
I plan to continue working on Ice Cream Soda, making any amount of progress
Since Grandma has made as many blocks as she is able to at this time, I would like to finish all of my imitation blocks for the Generations Quilt project, as well as piece a few more of my own scrappy white blocks

I want to continue working on Old Town, making any amount of progress
With my label making well underway, I'm also looking forward to getting a little more quilting done in the next few months, but I don't have any particular project in mind. That being said, here's my goal;
I hope to finish quilting one quilt
We'll find out in a few months which quilt I end up choosing to work on. There's a few different ones that I've left in progress, including Stars of the City, Meadow Mystery, and Chilhowie, so I have lots of options!
Finally, I would really like to get my pants pattern draft finished, but I also have to acknowledge that I am much more inspired to work on quilt projects than garments. I'll set this goal knowing it's something I should get done;
I hope to make progress on my custom pants pattern draft
All together, that's nine unique projects I hope to work on throughout the Spring season! It's definitely a lot of individual projects, but many are well underway and some only need a few stitches to be successful, so I think I can handle it. I suppose we will find out in a few months!
Friends, thank you all so much for joining me on this look back at the Winter season! I accomplished so much more than I thought I had and am looking forward to a productive Spring season full of exciting stitching projects!
Of course, I would love to hear about your own accomplishments from the past few months! Please share stories and photos of your completed goals in the comments below, or by sending me an email! I would also love to hear your plans moving forward, so please share those as well!
As per one of this season's new goals, I'm hoping to become a little more active over on Instagram, so feel free to visit me there as well!
I can't wait to see what we make together this Spring!
